Japanese designer Kei Ninomiya reinvents punk for SS27.

KEI NINOMIYA REDEFINES PUNK
As guest designer for the 110th edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy, Japanese designer Kei Ninomiya presented an SS27 collection that draws strongly on the theme of punk. Whilst the overall impression remains rebellious, it shifts towards a more open, sensitive and gender-fluid direction. The designs are experimental and offer fresh interpretations. The focus is not simply on referencing a past movement, but on redefining punk.
The silhouettes are relaxed with loose, wide cuts, yet sharp contours also flow in by way of contrast. Asymmetrical elements feature in the designs. Layering and patchwork create complexity and a touch of disorder. Soft knitwear with a mesh-like appearance conveys a character that is both warm and rebellious. Details take on particular significance. Destroyed effects, buttons, button badges, chains and pins run through the looks as key elements. Floral designs provide a delicate, creative twist, as do flower-adorned mohawks and liberty spikes in the styling.
