Street culture at TATI Barbès:

a space of encounter

Street culture at TATI Barbès

The former TATI Barbès department store in the 18th arrondissement of Paris is currently experiencing a renaissance. Under the management of Youssouf Fofana, founder of the Château Rouge brand, the once legendary boutique has been transformed into ‘Le grand Magasin Éphémère’, a multicultural space and concept store where fashion and art come together. From 23 January to 29 June 2025, visitors can purchase upcycled pieces, browse through books in the in-house library or linger in the cafeteria. An open retrospective shows works by the popular African photographers Seydou Keïta and Malick Sidibé. Workshops are part of the programme. The aim is to create a cultural space with a special focus on the diaspora and African cultures. Genuine arts and crafts take centre stage.

The project is supported by the Nike Group’s Jordan brand. Youssef Fofana had already worked with them in 2024 for another project to support street culture.
